Little Falls WWTP Improvements

Little Falls, MN

Project Overview

Additions to the existing wastewater treatment facility included a new Preliminary Treatment Building with fine screening and grit removal, repurposed Anaerobic Selector Tank, new Oxidation Ditches, retrofitting an existing tank for UV Disinfection, new Aerobic Digesters and sludge pumping, installed new pumps and controls at two offsite lift stations, installed new site piping in and around the existing facility including process lines and water mains, numerous connections to existing pipes and structures, modified the Filter Press Room by adding a push wall and removing other walls to allow for more storage.

Most of the new structures were constructed in and around the existing facility while it was in operation. Coordinating around active treatment required significant planning for crane positioning, concrete pour scheduling, and material deliveries to ensure plant operations were not impacted. Concrete work and water testing of several tanks were completed during the winter.

Our team provided value engineering ideas to address coordination with the railroad as well as pre-planning work activities to complete the work within tight spaces safely and without impacting the treatment process.
