Chanhassen West Water Treatment Plant

Chanhassen, MN

Project Overview

A new, greenfield water treatment facility was constructed in the middle of a park, surrounded by wetlands and a residential neighborhood. The facility is discreetly placed on the hillside on a compact site in this Twin City suburb, using prairie-themed architecture and landscaping to blend in.

The treatment process includes the removal of iron and manganese with six filter cells, high-zone and low-zone pumping systems, and a complete backwash process. The project included a stormwater reuse system to allow the City to recycle stormwater for landscape irrigation around the plant.

As an additional value to the residential community, the project constructed a public playground on the north side of the water treatment plant.
