The City of Hartford, South Dakota’s current aging lagoon and residential growth had prompted the city for a new Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF). Rice Lake was awarded the CMAR contract and the new wastewater treatment facility broke ground in mid-September of 2023. With the mild winter and exceptional leadership, the lift station and treatment plant are making great progress.

The WRRF will treat 1.5 million gallons a day and is designed for rapid residential growth, regionalization, and additional industrial capacity. Effluent from the new facility will discharge to Skunk Creek and, ultimately, to the Big Sioux River. We are excited to work with ISG to serve the City of Hartford!
